Wigan boss Roberto Martinez has found watching the agony of other managers helps him relax in the heat of the Latics latest battle to beat the drop.
For the third successive season Martinez finds himself staring at relegation from the Barclays Premier League, and with the odds again heavily stacked against his team.
Two years ago Wigan finished 16th and six points above the bottom three, repeating the position in the table last season, but only after winning their last two games to keep themselves up.
On this occasion, with seven games remaining, Wigan appear to be in a four-way fight with QPR, Blackburn and Bolton to avoid the fall into the Championship, with Wolves currently cut adrift.
Although Martinez concedes to not suffering from nerves or enduring any sleepless nights right now, the Spaniard knows of only one way to ease off in the current situation.
I watch football – I know, Im quite sad, said Martinez.
But I love watching football games and seeing other managers problems on the pitch. I find its quite relaxing.
I feel that by looking at other teams problems it gives me a good feeling with my work.
In eating, sleeping and breathing football 24/7, for Martinez it means being nervous is not an option.
You havent time to feel that way, added Martinez.
I can guarantee you that if you could work 26 hours per day then you would be able to feel them.
But youve honestly no time because you are preparing for games and making sure the team is as ready as it can be for every game.
You learn from experience that you can affect many things, but not when you get too emotional about your job.
Although keeping his emotions in check, Martinez admits that just because he has been in the current situation before, that does not make it any easier.
The only way it helps is that as a group, with the players, you know what to expect, and thats a real advantage, said Martinez.
But it doesnt make it easier in accepting the situation or in how to win games.
At least at the present time, quite clearly, were the strongest we have been these past three seasons.
When I say that I mean with the mentality of the group, the togetherness we have in the dressing room, the desire to play and with the competition we have for places, which is something in the past we havent really had.
So this is a key time for the club. We must stay up to be able to take all the good things weve done well these past three seasons and carry them on into next season.
Its paramount we do that.
Although winning their last two matches, and taking 12 points from the last 21 on offer to give themselves a fighting chance, the Latics face a mountain to climb over the next three games.
First up it is Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, followed by a home game with Manchester United on Wednesday, and then a visit to Arsenal a week on Monday.
At least Wigan have a platform with back-to-back wins, with Martinez adding: You can prepare for any game on the tactical and physical side of things.
But theres nothing that can replace the mental side when it comes down to confidence and belief from good results.
Right now, mentally and psychologically we are strong, weve real belief and are very confident, and that helps with every other aspect of the game.
Were aware going to Stamford Bridge is a huge ask, and there are not many people expecting us to get anything out of the game.
So this is a real important moment for us to realise what we have to do to be as good as we can be.
Midfielder Mohammed Diame returns after a two-game absence with a groin injury, but striker Hugo Rodallega remains sidelined with a knee problem.
